Default Hotel near Disney in Anaheim

We're going to go to Disney Land in April, stay over night at a hotel in April. We're close by, but want to stay over night as we're seeing a concert in the evening. Any suggestions for a hotel?

Thanks.

There is an Embassy Suites in Garden Grove on Harbor Blvd, just south of Katella. I would stay there because it's a well known brand, and it's not too far from the park. I don't know if they have a shuttle to the parks or not, but it might be worth it if they do. Plus breakfast is included.

If you really want to stay close the Howard Johnson gets good reviews, but it looks like absolutely nothing from the freeway, and it's really really close to I-5 so make sure you ask for a non facing freeway room. Their pool area is suppose to be amazing.

Thanks Annie...I knew you knew the area better than I do.

When we've gone before, we just drive down and back as it's about an hour. But we're going to a concert with DS and want to stay over night and make a weekend out of it. We'll have our car. Have to see if our Disney friends can get any tickets for us.

That HJ always gets high marks on here. We stayed at the Embassy Suites Annie mentioned. We had a huge, wonderful room. It was great to kick back in the suite. Free breakfast. The shuttle to DL cost $ and we opted to just drive to the park.

We stayed at the Anabella on Katella the week of Christmas. We walked to the park from there. Go down West street and go through the double doors into the Grand Californian. Take first left hallway down to automatic door to an alley to Downtown Disney (come out next to Sephoria).

You might want a second floor room though, our first floor room flooded. Otherwise we liked the room and wished we had better weather to explore their grounds.

Recently read 3rd Secret Zoo book (DS read ahead to number 4 and is now mad at the author - he won't be reading Harry Potter any time soon) and Love in the Present Tense (so good). Currently reading Clockwork Princess (I am enjoying these books).

Yes the Annabella is really close and actually looks like one of the nicer hotels on Katella. Hopefully all of the rain will be gone by April. RLU, you are lucky they kept the park open. One time last January when it poured as much as it did two weeks ago they actually closed the park.

I have always wanted to stay at the Grand Californian, even though we live so close. I have no idea how much it costs but I am pretty sure it would be pricey. But it looks SO nice and you can walk right into California Adventure from it.
Everyone raves about HoJo here. That's where I would start if you don't want to pay the price for the Grand Californian.

I posted separately about our trip and other than a few rides being closed it wasn't too bad. DS has asked that next time "we go in the summer" though. Did they close it before due to lack of crowds or some issue I wasn't aware of?

For example I don't remember if the paddleboat was going the first two days when it truly poured (Sun and Mon) but did run on Wed. The island was closed of course and a few inside/outside rides (Alice, Pooh, Teacups) but otherwise it seemed the rides were fairly normal and we enjoyed the shortened lines.

I looked it up and even with the AP discount (this was last spring) and it was still over $300 per night. Honestly rediculous IMHO for living so close, but it does sound fun.

Yes, it would be ridiculous for us to do it now. But even though it's silly, I still want to do it when the kids are older and can sleep in hotels without us all wishing we were back home instead. DH and I go to Napa Rose sometimes and I just want to stay at that hotel before I die!
