Default Frontier Install ?

I'm not finding it easy to install the Frontier. I thought it would be easy to do with latch. It's took a while. It was dark out and it is the first time I've installed the Fronter. Nothing like my other Britax seats. I'm installing using latch. I'm in harness mode will be for a long while.

My guy is 34lb. The Frontier is in the recline mode. I'm installing in a Nissan Maurano with leather seats. I have no idea if that matters. It seem to be sliding around. I think it is moving more than one inch at the belt path. I'm not really use to any movement. I broke a nail trying to tighten the latch. I miss being able to adjust on both sides.

Julie I would like if you could chime in. Along with anyone else advice.

I've not done it with LATCH but I have used the short belt path. I found it easy to do (easier than my other MA's seatbelt installs actually. Maybe you could switch to belt install and see if you get it tighter.

I thought it would be easier to install with latch. Since I always hear people complain about the using the seat belts. I will have to try tomorrow. I can use seat belt installs on my other Britax seats. I guess I need to watch the video on the short belt path.

Do you like the seat?

I actually got in the seat to tighten mine. Literally hefted myself in the car, put my knee in the seat and put my weight down while pulling up on the strap. I tried to pull back across the seat to help pull up any slack. The first time I did it, I had a lot of movement. Once I did it this way - zero movement. I have leather seats in my car as well, and I drive a Nissan quest, and I used the Latch for my Frontier85. I haven't tried the seat belt way as I would have to uninstall the seat anytime I would have to move the seat forward or backward.

I had a Decathalon before the Frontier, and i totally miss the dual pull straps on the LATCH. But the good thing is DD1 and I both LOVE her new seat!! Love it!

The FR is nothing like the other Britax seats to install. I have the original FR and its a HUGE HUGE HUGE PITA. You definitely have to climb into the seat to get a good install.

I also have to climb into the seat for the belt install (got the seat after DS was 40 lbs and have an Odyssey, so I've yet to do a LATCH install with this seat).

Hey guys! I did climb into the seat. My knee is actually hurting and I'm missing a nail. And I'm not happy with my install. I did get it better than the first 2 or 3 attempts.

I guess this won't be a seat I'll want to move EVER!

Britax I really want my daul latch.......

Tell me about it. I just got the Frontier85. Is that easier than original FR?

Yes, the new FR85 is reportedly much easier to install than the original. I can't help you as I've not battled with it IRL. The FR is a beast of a seat, but once its installed, it is VERY nice.

I had a hard time installing my FR85 too! Just coming here to check past threads. I could barely thread the lap belt through the short path?! I usually reach my hand through (with the MA and RA) and can pull the belt no problem. I was worried my hand would get stuck in the middle of the seat, the opening is so small! And I have pretty small hands. There is NO way DH could have done it. I had to turn the seat on it's side and use gravity to get the belt through. Did anyone else have this problem or did I do something wrong?

sorry to hijack.
