Default IKEA dishes, bowls,etc...do you hate yours?

I think I've decided I hate our IKEA plates and bowls. Many of them have chips in them, and I feel like it takes extra time to do dishes because I handle them so carefully because they just feel like they will crack. Some of the pieces aren't as prone to breakage as others, but still, I'm not happy with them. I've had to teach the boys to put their dishes next to the sink, not in the sink, because the dishes usually crack if they try to put them in the sink. I'm thinking of ditching them and getting that Corelle stuff - I've never had those before, but I remember I used to always see them at friend's houses.

Interesting...
We have IKEA dishes (they say IKEA 365+ on the bottoms & have had them for probably 4 yrs or longer) - plain white ones - and have not had a single problem. If you bought as a set, I wonder if you could take them back and see what they would do for an exchange? Maybe you got a bad batch?
I am constantly knocking ours into the edge of the sink (porcelain) or counter top (granite) when I wash them and would expect to have chipped or broken one by now, but no.
So sorry for your trouble!
(I better go knock on wood now...)

The Correlle winter white pattern is just plain white dishes. They are very nice and sometimes you can get them on sale for about $20 for 4 place settings.

I get Ikea so that I know I won't get upset when they do get broken or chipped. I LOVE Ikea wine glasses for this reason. I am also not worried about the kids using them and I don't usually let them eat off of our everyday Mikasa dishes.

I vote for the Corelle. I've dropped a bowl on the slate floor in our entry way and it just bounced back up. It CAN break but they are a lot less durable than other dishes I've had. I have a couple of the IKEA 365 bowls and they have held up well. I had some dishes from one of their other lines and it ended up in the trash after ~1 year
