Baby Alive doll: Old school doll vs newer model

Does anyone know if there is a size difference in the doll that was out when I was kid vs the newer dolls that are out now? I don't have a girl so I have no concept of the size of the dolls.

My real question is in regards to the clothes that are out for Baby Alive. I found some outfits for Baby Alive marked down at K-Mart that I thought would be wonderful bday gifts for my good friend's daughter who will be three. The problem is, I don't know if she has a newer Baby Alive doll, but I know she has her mom's Baby Alive doll. I don't know if the clothes will fit this Baby Alive doll or not and will return the clothes that I got back to K-Mart if they aren't going to fit.

Can any of you moms out there give me some insight into.....Please!
