just got ivory fantasy granite. the installation team "sealed" the granite.
it gets water spots on it, as in the area that the water has touched darkens until it dries. should this happen? i envisioned a more water-proof surface. i should add that the surface is not shiny smooth, its a leathered texture. any advise? should i reseal or should this happen? |

We sealed ours ourselves with a sealant we bought at either Lowes or home depot. I think we are supposed to reseal every year. If you think yours isn't sealed properly you could try to seal it again your self.
I'm not sure about the texture... All granite I have seen is really smooth.

I think for that color of granite, the water spots are normal, even when it is sealed. But I'm not an expert, so maybe someone will have better info for you.

I'm no expert either, but the lighter granite that I used to have would show dark spots when exposed to cold or liquids. These would disappear shortly, but a cold drink might leave rings. And this was right after it was installed and sealed.
As far as the texture, I can't comment. Mine was a smooth finish. |

I would post your question over on gardenweb's kitchen forums. The people there really know their granite.
