Default Police theme bday party help needed!

Hi everyone. DS asked that the theme for his birthday party be "police". I have the entertainment lined up (a retired policeman that is a 'dancing cop' and puts on a great show) but I am STUMPED as far as decorations go. There isn't anything at the party stores. Do any of you creative ladies have any ideas for me? TIA!

I just can't get past the mental picture of the male stripper in my head when you said dancing cop. Are you sure he knows it's a kids party?

If I try to get past that for a moment, I am thinking there is a lot to be done with cardboard and construction paper. How old is DS? If on the younger side, how about cardboard box police cars that the kids can help decorate, and then take turns chasing the kids playing "robber." I would do a black - n - white theme since police cars are called black and whites.

I am reasonably sure you can pick up kid whistles & badges appropriate for a police theme. Colored strobe lights to signify police lights, perhaps? I'm not digging too deep, here, but that's what comes to mind. HTH!

My thoughts exactly...I am shamefully disappointed this is a thread for a kids party.

That said, it actually sounds like a cute theme. Your DS could be the Police Cheif and deputize all of the other kids. Badges and whistles should be easy to find. I would skip the handcuffs and tazers.

Do you have a resource officer, DARE program or the like? Maybe get some free stickers etc from them? A neighbor who is a cop to make a guest appearance?

ROTF - all my older cousins were telling their DH that the real dancing cop is coming later when the kids leave. Trust me, this one won't be doing any adult entertainment!! This is the link to his site
http://www.providencedancingcop.com/main.html
I saw him perform for kids and he did a GREAT job. I also have a friend that is a detective coming with his car and my neighbor coming with a cruiser.
Sorry I dissapointed everyone!! LOL

Do blue and gold or black and gold paper products. Get police stickers from local PD for your son's bd party. Get some "crime scene" type streamers. Maybe you could have the kids do a CSI type game or figure out something.... like ID different foods, melted candy bars, etc.

GL!

Maybe the kids could make police hats for an activity? I do that with my preschool class when we learn Community Helpers and they come out cute! Not sure how old your DS is though. I do this with 3 year olds, so it might not be sophisticated enough for your DS.

Would this tablecloth work? http://www.orientaltrading.com/black...t=decorate+car

These stickers for a party activity or favor or both:http://www.orientaltrading.com/desig...ltr?Ntt=police

Or these, which would be helpful and educational http://www.orientaltrading.com/color...ltr?Ntt=police

Here are some more ideas: http://www.birthdaypartyideas4kids.c...hday-theme.htm
