I am considering planning a surprise night away for dh and me. I assume wherever I book will want a cc to hold the room. Will they do something that shows up on our online cc account? Don't want to blow the surprise by having dh check out statement.
Thanks! Catherine |

Typically you're not charged if they just take the card number to "hold the room". You're only charged after the date of the booking (either if you don't show up, or if you do and use the room.) However, if you're getting a special pay-in-advance non-refundable rate, then they'll probably charge your card immediately, so check the rate specifications. You can also just ask the hotel - they should be able to tell you when the charge will go through.
Enjoy your night out! I'm sure he'll love the surprise!

also if they dont initally charge your card they may access the card for an authorization number to make sure the card is a valid card. i would ask them directly if the card is run through and what will show up.

Get a visa gift card and put it on that or ask them if you can send in a check.
