I have a dr appt tomorrow morning to follow up on bloodwork done a week or two ago. My OB ordered the labs due to excessive bleeding. Dr checked for thyroid changes and anemia. I saw the lab results today and see everything is normal except for my neutrophils. Last time (in late August) I had bloodwork done they were low too. Now I'm worked up thinking something potentially serious is going on. I don't really know what I'm looking for with this post...thoughts? Reassurance? The power of BBB positive thinking and prayers? No idea but I'm worried and I hate this feeling!

Wish I knew enough to be reassuring but good luck and lot of PT for you.

P&PT coming your way! Every time I work myself up about something, it ends up being no big deal. Hoping this is the case for you too!

I don't know anything about neutrophils, but I do know from years of dealing with my thyroid that often what the lab classifies as an "abnormal" result, and what a doctor thinks is abnormal are two different things. I wouldn't worry too much - if the doctor was truly alarmed, they probably would have called you the minute they got the results to order follow-up testing.
Good luck!

Don't google it! Dr. Google is not your friend. He once diagnosed me with shingles, when it was in fact, skin itchy due to being a little dry.
I think the best course when you're in a "nervous but nothing to do but wait" is distract yourself with a funny tv show or book. Get one of those audible.com free trials and download the Tina Fey book. It's funny ![]() And good luck tomorrow!

Easier said than done, but try not to worry until you definitely have something to worry about! I don't know much, but I think neutrophils are much more of a concern when they're high than when they're low. The doc is probably just keeping tabs on anemia due to the bleeding. Hope you get an encouraging result... thinking of you!

I'm speaking as a laboratory technologist who specializes in hematology. I would only be concerned if my neutrophil levels were consistently below 40%. If your WBC is fine, I wouldn't worry at all. And I'm a worrier!
