Default I'm so sick of cooking for these children

Honestly, my kids have a culinary repetoire (sp) of about 4-5 dishes right now and it's driving me NUTS!!! I want mexican tonight, curry would be good. What do my little darlings want....mac n cheese and hot dogs. ALWAYS! Pizza, chinese chicken, crunchy chicken, fried pork chops. But god forbid we EVER have a sauce or casserole. The world would end. I'm so sick of eating what they want and never being able to make what i want. I'm sick of the drama at the dinner table that dd1 pulls. I'm sick of ds climbing the walls by 5 because he's hungry and dh isn't home so I'm pulling him out of the pantry multiple times a night because of course he can't eat fruit for a snack and I have to watch him like a hawk to keep his pilfering little fingers out of the cheetos.

AAAGGGHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hear you. I soooo hear you. Sisi will only eat quesadillas. Gator will not eat anything with cheese or vegetables. Cha cha's likes and dislikes change daily. Sometimes he only wants pizza. The next day, he may scream that he hates it. Only my sweet Greenbean will eat pretty much anything.

it's really frustrating.

Is there any way you could feed your kids a substantial snack/dinner of the food they will eat at 5:00 when they are hungry and you cook what you and dh will eat for you guys? you could still have the kids sit with you and dh at your dinnertime with some fruit (or whatever) and a small amount of what you and dh are having.

(assuming you do it the way you do so you will all eat together. In my house the girls eat before dh gets home and dh and I eat our food later, but it sounds like you don't want to do that).

I know cooking separate meals stinks, but a lot of the "kid foods" are pretty simple to cook.

I just realized that you may just want to bitch - if so, sorry, and ignore the above!

I literally just said that on the phone with my mom this evening. What is the point of cooking for these kids when they don't even want to eat? Well, DS1 might eat it, but DS2? He sometimes won't even put a bite into his mouth. Last night, I made some spinach ravioli, and DS2 flat out told me, "No green!"

I so feel your pain. Some nights I just want to give up.

I put a closet lock on my pantry (and on my fridge). Finally I just locked the whole kitchen. It saved me some gray hairs. As for the food, my kids don't eat anything anyway, so I just make what I want and give them cream cheese/peanut butter/cereal/yogurt.

This is pretty much me too. My DS only wants pb&j. DD only wants chicken nuggets or pizza. I go through phases of making dinner and letting them choose to eat or not and then sometimes accommodating them. I know inconsistency is bad, but what's a mama to do?

It is so maddening.

Same here. And tonight, I had to run an errand right before dinner time, and so I ran through taco bell for the kids because they didn't touch the food I made yesterday, which was to also serve as dinner tonight as leftovers. They ate every single bit of the t-bell. Gah!

I totally feel for you. DS2 is so so picky and will only eat a small number of things. And then even when I give him something he likes, he needs to whine about it that it's boring and he wants something else to eat. But if he actually ate other stuff, he would have more variety. I dread meal times around here.

I hear ya. DD pretty much eats only grilled cheese, chicken nuggets (only the Tyson brand, mind you), and yogurt. And when she gets bored of those she screams. *sigh*
