Default Do you keep sentimental objects from your childhood?

If so, where do you keep it? I have a clear rubbermaid bin that is about twice the size of a shoe box that holds so many things that I'd like to hang on to, but then I wonder if that's the hoarder coming out in me. Things inside the box include love notes from DH from high school, pictures and band stuff from high school (yes, I was/am a geek), and old diary from elementary school with a handful of entries, special little trinkets from my deceased aunt, my BABY TEETH (good grief, that's crazy), special birthday cards, wedding cards, etc. Lots of random stuff that I rarely look at, but when I do, man, the memories are great. I could probably fill another container with some stuff that I've recently found at my grandmother's house. Is it crazy to keep this stuff? If I keep it, should I put it in a more special place, rather than the top of the closet in the spare bedroom? Be honest. If I should toss it, tell it to me straight. I am a packrat, and I'm trying very, very hard to change that.

I have my blanky and that's about it. I threw away my baby teeth--my mom had mine and all my sisters' teeth and we found them in labelled boxes after she died. My blanky is in my cedar chest. Oh and I have my stuffed Grover too. He lives in my dresser drawer.

I say if you've got room, keep it. I have lots of sentimental stuff. Diaries from h.s./college, photos, special tshirts. Not so much that it's paralyzing, but I'm a sentimental fool and like knowing I have it.

I keep far more than that - probably have the equivalent of two huge rubbermaids. I kept all of my yearbooks from every year, lots of albums of pictures, lots of trinkety things like you reference. I love them. I love that my mom kept similar stuff from her childhood/adolescence and I used to love to look through it with her (she would do it with us very rarely, which made it more special). I keep ours in our attic. My mom would keep hers in the basement where she kept Christmas decorations. This is not hoarding at all.

I try to go through it every few years and cull paper stuff. I kept my yearbook, diplomas and sacramental certificates (I grew up Catholic, so these are fairly significant) but tossed things like progress reports and notebooks.

A lot of my childhood photos and 8mm films were "lost in the move" when the house I grew up in was foreclosed on, so I don't have a lot of the things I might have kept as a teenager.

I do have my baby quilt (handmade by my aunt, who made hooded towels for my sister's DS and my DD as shower gifts), teddy bear and the only baby doll I ever really liked/played with, in addition to my AG dolls (originals from Pleasant Company, not "American Girl"/Mattel) and one of the dresses my mom sewed for me, but a lot of the things I've got should probably be tossed, donated or sold.

I have my blanky (it is just on the back of one of the sofas in the house) and my Senior Year Book, but that is it.

DH on the other hand has an enormous Rubbermade box (I call it the coffin because it is about 4 feet long!) full of his baby stuff. I cleaned out the gross stuff from the box when MIL gave it to us (Um, seriously who keeps a kids retainer, head gear and mouth guard from sports? Disgusting). But it still has all of DH's report cards, all the sweaters that his grandmothers made him, some baby blankets, year books, all of his cross-country/track/wrestling medals, photo books etc. I think we should chuck most of the stuff, but DH gets a little wishy washy every time I try.

I only have a few things. They are either packed away as we move so often or they are out and displayed. I don't have a special momento keepsake box to house anything.

I have a set of HEE HAW overalls (LMAO) and a flower girl dress.

That's it.

They are hanging in my closet.

I burned my diaries, and my love notes from DH are on a cd.
