Default Roadtrip over Spring Break?

DS and I both have spring break at the same time. I thought maybe a roadtrip, we're in SoCal. I wouldn't want it to be the entire time off, but maybe 5 days. Options?

Thanks

If DS likes the Wild West, you can do Tucson/Tombstone/Bisbee, then swing up to Sedona/Jerome, then Grand Canyon.

you could head up the coast to Santa Cruz (maybe) and then make your way back down the coast .... stopping in coastal towns along the way! Monterey, Carmel, Hearst Castle, San Luis Obispo, Pismo Beach, Solvang, Santa Barbara etc.

Is Death Valley still bearable over your spring break? That might be an interesting place to go. (I haven't been)

This is very doable in 4 to 5 days. DH and I did a similar road trip for our 5th anniversary a few years back. We were gone for 4 days, we left on a Friday and came back on Monday.

Friday, drove to Cambria
Saturday went to Hearst Castle, then drove and stopped in SLO for lunch, then to Santa Barbara
Sunday we did a Jeep Tour wine tasting so that is out for you, but there is a lot to do in Santa Barbara including a zoo.
Monday we went to Mission Santa Barbara, ate lunch, and then drove home.

If you wanted to add another day you could easily ad Monterey after Hearst Castle (it's about 3 hours north of there, I think), and then spend two full days in Monterey, then drive to Santa Barbara or SLO and spend the night and then go home the following day.

All great ideas. Thanks everyone. Friends might be interested in coming with us. We've done one road trip together - all the kids in the minivan and another car with 2 adults driving. We then swapped out drivers so no one was in the kid car for too long. It was a lot of fun.
