Well, technically DD started her 'play group' at age 2.5, but we call it pre-school. It's at a school with one teacher and two aides, and it's wonderful what a small group it is, so DD can get more attention.
It's for kids with special needs, and she qualified due to her speech delay. She seems caught up now, but still has anxiety issues, so she'll be tested again this school year to see if she'll qualify for it again.

I would've sent her to our district pre-school held at the elementary school down the road, but their age cut-off is Sept. 1st and she turned 3 in Oct.
It's probably good that she didn't go to a 'regular' pre-school this year because I don't know that she would've responded to the teachers when they ask her questions (we're thinking she might have selective mutism), and she might not feel comfortable enough to ask to use the bathroom. Often she'll hold it in the whole morning, so it was a big deal last week when she told a teacher she had to use the potty (without being asked).

She goes 2 mornings a week and gets speech therapy for 20 minutes each of those days.

DS1 was in part time daycare as I was working then. He transitioned to preschool at 3 and Montessori at 4.5.

DS2 went to the toddler Montessori program at 2 and started primary at 3.

DS3 is starting toddler Montessori in the fall, 18 months, 2 mornings a week. I plan to transition him to primary a month before he turns 3 b/c that will be right after their winter break.

DS was 2. We were living in Germany at the time and that was the standard age to start. We were given a choice of about 6 or 7 different ones in the area.

Here we can't start preschool until you are three by the cutoff which DS misses by 13 days. So he will be starting 3 yo preschool at 3y 11 months. I'd have liked for him to go this year, but all schools have the same cutoff as the school system so there's nothing we can do.

Lula started in a P4 class just before turning 5 last year. SHe only attended a few months because we had to move due to DH's illness. She just started again, and because of the age cut off here, she missed Kinder by a couple of weeks, so she's in PK.

The local preschool we use is affiliated with the public school and is only in session during the school year. All kids are allowed on the waiting list at 2.75 years but can not start until they are 3. If there is a developmental delay, there is generally no wait list and they have special sessions during the summer for them.

DS#1 age 4 yrs 2 months (after a year on waitlist)
DS#2 age 3.5 yrs (after 9 months on waitlist)
DD#1 age 3 (we were called 1 month before she turned three then 1 week after)
DD#2 was place in the program at age 3 but as her birthday is in the summer we had to wait until school started for her to start. only child with a developmental delay, no summer session because of when her birthday falls.

DD, now in K did one year of preschool. We were involved in other activities, story times and play groups. She did an "on my own story time " the year before ps.
DS is four and I just registered him to start in September. He's a December bday.

With bothe kids I start working on things at home, about three, when they start to show interest.

DD1 was almost 3/1/2. I anticipate that DD2 will be the same age, but I think we are looking at other alternatives for her because there have been some not so positive talk about the preschool DD1 went to. My DCP (former elementary and special ed teacher) is thinking about doing a home preschool for the kids too this fall so if she does that then DD2 might just go to pre k for one year or might just stay at the daycare until she starts kindergarten.
