Default boba vs. Ergo

Hoping to find a toddler/older infant carrier for 20+ lbs. The main difference I see between the Ergo and the Boba is the foot straps. Anything else I am missing? What are the differences between the older Boba and the newer 3G?

Actually, the body of the Boba is longer than the Ergo and the strap padding is a bit less bulky than a regular Ergo.

The longer body helps with back carries as it's more supportive of taller kiddos with longer torsos, while the Ergo might be too short for those body types as they get older.

Another thing to note about the Boba is that it's not rated for newborn use, but the higher weight limit more than makes up for that in usability far past when most people wear their babes!

If your 20lb-ish DC is long in the torso, opt for the Boba. If not, the Ergo will probably serve you well for quite a while! (I still wear my 30-ish lb. 2 y/o in our Ergo, but I tried a Boba last summer for my nephew who's built a bit differently & it worked out really nicely.)

I can't comment on the differences between the older Boba & the 3G, but hopefully someone else can.

No experience with the Boba, but we love our Ergo for our giant almost 2 yo. She is 99th percentile for height and 80th percentile for weight and is very comfy in the Ergo. We only do back carries now for our own comfort. If you are looking at Ergos, babysteals.com has a great price on them today (if they still have them in stock).

The Boba 3G adjusts in size to accommodate newborns

I'd heard that shortly after I responded to this thread, so it almost went onto my shortlist for a carrier for my sister.

However, the tester I know didn't particularly care for it for newborns as she felt it was kind of bulky when snapped down, but she's also fairly petite, so that might have colored her opinion.

It's a great thing that the Boba 3G can now be used from birth, though.
