I've read about this scenario in BPs many times...
...and now it appears to be happening to me. Tomorrow is my birthday. I took the day off work because we get a personal day during the month of our birthday that is separate from our regular PTO, therefore taking the day off won't lessen the time I have to cover my maternity leave. DS has preschool for 4 hrs Tues/Thurs, so I was looking forward to peace and quiet and a lunch out with DH. Except DS now has a fever. So no preschool tomorrow. No peace and quiet. No lunch out. Sucks.

You have my absolute sympathy.
 FWIW, you are not alone. DS had the vomiting flu on our anniversary and I ended up on the receiving end a waterfall of baby puke. Cleaning up puke, washing everything on the baby's bed (twice) and everything I was wearing (once), and feeding one half ounce of Pedialyte every ten minutes is not the most romantic way to spend an evening . . .
