DH & I are going to Grand Cayman for 5 days
![]() I called Sprint and its $2 a minute. Can anyone recommend a cheaper alternative? Maybe a prepaid calling card? Calling from the hotel was even more expensive. Thanks!

Will you have internet? My husband was out of the country and we Skyped. It was free and wonderful! I bought a cheap video cam because my laptop doesn't have one built in, but half the time we didn't use it, just the voice. (The kids were too goofy looking at themselves in the lower corner of the screen.)

My friend has skype on her phone and her DH calls from Afghanistan most days to her phone. I know you can also call a phone with skype but I'm not sure how that works.

Skype or Facetime. Google also has a way to video call but I am not sure if it works from overseas.

Calls made via Skype/Facetime are free, but internet access at hotels/resorts is often really expensive!
When we first moved overseas, pre-paid phone cards were what we used. It was easy and cheap.

Ages ago, we used the prepaid calling cards. But when my sister was overseas for a year several years ago, we used Skype.

Skype, iChat, and if I'm going to be there for more than a week, I'll pick up a prepaid sim card for my phone.
I also have an online phone card - you go online set up an account and charge it with some money, you then call their local number and follow prompts to dial a number overseas. I've pre-programmed my family in Australia and UK, so I call the local number, type in my pin and then the shortuct I programmed for my mother and it connects to her. |
