Default Sunscreen

I know this is one of the annual BBB topics, and every year I hem and haw about balancing my dislike of the thick, white sunscreens that are hard to rub in with my desire to use something that rates relatively well on Skin Deep.

I recently bought the Babyganics Cover Up (http://www.amazon.com/Babyganics-Cov...6267288&sr=8-4), and I'm because it rubs in really easily and it's rated a 2 on EWG. Anyway, just thought I'd pass it along because I know there are other folks out there who have issues with some of the other sunscreens that are really hard to rub in.

Did you get it at Amazon? Or can it be found at a B&M store? Thanks for posting. I love that it has a 50 SPF. I want to try it!

Excellent! I just tried the Coppertone Waterbabies Pure and Simple which also gets a 2 on skin deep and find it really easy to rub in too.

I'm still working on a stick for the kids' faces though. Purple Prairie was the easiest to rub in, but dh got burned using it at a ball game so I'm not sure it worked very well for him. . . .

I think you meant to link to this one (just keep in mind this one has parabens in it)

For stick, my boys like this one. It's a 3 on EWG.

I started using Johnson's Baby SPF 40 which Annie has recommended in the past. It gets a 2 on Skin Deep.

It is hard to get out of the tube but it is thick and doesn't make my kids look like ghosts. It's still white but not obviously so. I really like the price especially when I can buy it from Buy Buy Baby with a coupon.

Can someone recommend a sunscreen that an 8-year old can easily apply on his own and that would last through a 1-hour swim team practice? DS swims outdoors 3 times a week in the afternoon and get taken to practice from his after school care so even if I were to put sunscreen on him before school at 7:45-8:00, I can't imagine it would last till 4:00 pm when he gets into the water. I asked his swim coach if wearing a rash guard would be a good idea, and he said not since it'd create drag, and that it would be best if DS applied sunscreen an hour before practice.

I did get it on Amazon. It was 4 2-oz tubes which is good because I can send one with each kid to daycare.

I'm not sure why Coppertone Pure and Simple got a good rating. It is a CHEMICAL sunscreen and gave me the worst rash of my life and completely ruined my vacation in March. It's easy to rub in because there are two chemicals in it. It does have physical sunscreeen too, but lots of chemicals as well. Stay away from this one if you don't want chemical sunscreen.

I've had good luck with Tru Kids sunny days, neutrogena's mineral sunscreen, Johnson and Johnson, and Blue Lizard. I will ave to check out babyganics.

Coppertone P&S broke my DS out all over too. That one went in our trash. We went back to Vanicream Sensitive Skin sunscreen for him. I'm not as concerned about Skin Deep ratings, just that they don't turn DS or DD into a walking scab. Many of the best-rated ones on Skin Deep break them out horribly.

I tried this and liked it at first but it didn't hold well in the bottle. A few week old bottle came out a weird watery mess.

Blue Lizard is white but rubs in well. It is also less thick.
