update... watched the product video for the b-dual and it looks like the seat is not a bucket seat. The b-ready has bucket seats right? I prefer non-bucket seats when possible so you can get a truly flat recline. Someone who knows the b-ready better will have to watch the b-dual video to point out the real differences.
Thanks for the video! I love her voice and I love that purple. Too bad it's so much more expensive than the US version!

I kind of remember that reaction as well. Not sure what the price was at the store but I remember thinking it was a lot more then the $300 I almost paid at diapers.com for the emerald green one with free second seat. Hmm, maybe I should have just gone through with it back then.. but I ended up with the vibe for only $425... Not sure which is better in the end. I would have to see them folded up next to each other.

Its online at 390 Euros (single)... without VAT it would be 315 Euros. I could totally swing that. So anyone heard of someone making the orbit board fit on other strollers? A girl can dream, right?

Yes, looks like the UK version has a truly lay flat seat and not a bucket seat. The seat appears to have more padding and they allow for the bassinet to go on the bottom. Not sure why britax USA says no to that. Other than those things I didn't see any other big differences.

You can get it with the second seat from Kiddicare for 399 pounds. That's what I was looking at because i thought it was UK-only. Where is it available on the continent and how do you get out of paying VAT if you live there? Is that a military thing?

ETA: You should get it!

Yes we have VAT exception forms that we can use if the store is willing to except them, most do. VAT is 19% so it can be pretty significant on big purchases. I know amazon.de accepts them but they have the b-dual at full price which is like 479 Euros or something like that. As a US citizen who is just traveling to Germany you can get out of VAT too but its a different process, not sure how it works.

The b-dual is definitely in Germany. I saw it last year at a small (nothing special) baby store in nearby Kaiserslautern. Romer (britax) is a pretty big brand here so I am not too surprised that the b-dual is available locally. Too bad all their car seats seem to be FF.

Anyways I am not sure I should get another stroller unless it can accomodate a board. Not that I can even remember the last time my ds used one. Hmm.. Maybe I'll post my vibe again locally and see what interest I get. I suppose I should go check out the b-dual again before I start entertaining crazy ideas.

When I have done it in the past it's a huge pain for civilians. The box has to be sealed and can't be opened before you hit customs or something like that. I can't remember the details. Anyway, it would be hard to travel with anything as large as a stroller and avoid VAT. You could ship it home, but then you are looking at customs duties and shipping fees, which might end up being as much as VAT anyway if you're unlucky.

Römer makes an infant seat called the Baby-Safe. I know because it's one of the few European seats that says it's approved for use in aircraft. They also make an RF convertible called the First Class. And I think a lay flat carseat for infants too.

oh yea.. It was meant more as an observation of the car seats I see in use by Germans. The only ones I see rear facing are infant buckets (mostly maxi-cosi). Everything else is FF. Maybe its because they are all driving tiny clown cars.

Thanks. I meant a double stroller that can accomodate 3 riders; 2 in the seats and 1 on a board. Unfortunately Britax says....

Compatible with most strollers,
including BRITAX B-READY (without Second Seat or Lower Infant Car Seat Adapter attached)
Which is why I would love to put my engineering degree into action and make the orbit skateboard fit on a b-ready.

Nah, their cars are no excuse. You can use a Britax Hi-Way legally in Germany and that thing will fit in the tiniest of backseats no problem. (Just as one example.) But I know exactly what you mean!
