Default Help picking 2nd Car/Travel Convertible

Hi,

I need to move my 10 month baby boy out of the infant carrier. I am moving him into a britax Blvd 70 in my main car but need to figure out what seat to get him for my husbands car. I am looking for something lightweight so we can use it for travel and his car has a small backseat so something that fits well rear facing would also be nice. I also want the car seat to last until I can move him to the harnessed booster my other son (3 yrs, 9 mth old) is about to be moved to. My baby already weighs 26 pds and has a long torso.

I am looking at the Evenflo Titan, Evenflo Tribute, the Cosco Scenera and the Saftey 1st Onside Air. They all seem to have their pros and cons. The Scenera has no EPS foam, the Onside Air looks great but i have heard the install is a nightmare. I was just going to get one of the Evenflo ones but then I heard the harness height is really low and it won't last long. I am probably over thinking this but I would love some help.

Thanks,
Neela
Mom to Finn (3 yrs, 9 mths) and Cole (10 mths)

Onside Air IS a Scenera, with extra padding... so that narrows things more. Now they do have this Easy Fit 65 thing, that has a different looking bottom, and may be easier to install... http://www.toysrus.com/product/index...uctId=11563636 Honestly I haven't tried it. But if I didn't expect quite such longevity out of a seat that's meant to be light and fit what you need it for right now, the Evenflo Tribute is a terrific choice (I can try the Easy Fit when I go to work tomorrow and report back tomorrow afternoon, though, if you want me to ) (Titan is remarkably smaller than the Tribute in terms of shoulder height, despite the higher weight limit, unfortunately).

I think I have narrowed it down to the Tribute or the Seneca. The onside just sounds hard to install despite the extra padding that it has. I like the extra padding in the tribute but he harness height has me worried. Is there really much of a difference in harness height between the 2?

No, the tiny difference in measurement doesn't make much difference, here's my 5 yo in the Tribute... https://picasaweb.google.com/1049718...83192696917378
And sorry I wasn't clear, the Onside Air and the Scenera are the exact same seat. The plastic shell is cranked out of the same factory line, and the OS gets an extra layer of padding, that's truly the only difference. They have the same bottom (with a flip foot that doesn't fill any space under the foot of the seat, thus makes getting enough recline very difficult), making them exactly as much a pain to install rearfacing (not to mention knife-sharp seatbelt paths, you can really hurt your knuckles trying to get them set up and installed with a seatbelt).

Wow, ok then I guess the tribute will work great. Two last questions, if you don't mind my being completely neurotict. 1) We do have a Britax Roundabout 40 that expires Aug 2013, the reason I am not using it is because it was really uncomfortable rearfacing after a year, I want him to rear face until 2 at least. Does the Tribute have more room than the old Roundabout? Or would the old roundabout be better and I should just use it, deal with the cramped quarters and get a new seat in a year? And 2) for a second small car that will be used max 2x a week, is there a different seat you would get if budget wasn't an issue.

Thanks so so much for all your help.
