I think the Bee would be pretty bumpy on sidewalks, and I wouldn't want to push it for 3+miles. I'd go with the cameleon + carrier if you don't need to lift the stroller a ton (as it's kind of heavy). My family members who live in NYC had an umbrella to use when they wanted a stroller but mainly just used a carrier. Much easier on/off subways, etc.

Thanks!
it's been several years since i decided between the cam and the vista, so perhaps weight has changed, but back in late '08/early '09, the weight difference between the two negligible. i opted for the vista b/c i liked that the frame had the baby up higher. it was a great stroller, IMO for neighborhood use - easy push over broken sidewalks, etc. and HUGE basket was a big plus for me.

another good local resource for used but well-cared for strollers is joining the BOCOCA yahoo group - i find it an awesome resource for almost everything from buying used stuff to getting great parenting support and advice.

overall, i don't think the cam or the vista is truly realistic for subway use. assuming you're in the heights, if you really need/want to take baby into the city in your larger stroller and the bridge is right there, i would walk it...but then you're stuck on the other side too unless you are headed somewhere downtown, or up for walking to your city destination.

for the early months, i used the vista in/around our 'hood, used a carrier for subway and trips into the city, and as soon as DS was old enough, i got a quest.

We actually bought a vista when they were on sale earlier this year for $450 with a 365 day return policy from amazon. We havent opened the box just in case but instead played with it at buybuy baby a lot. I'm just 5'1" and I actually hurt myself more than once trying to fold the thing and re-open it. I do see how many features the uppababy has that the cam doesn't (better basket, sunshade, freestanding bassinet) but from what I can tell, the suspension is terrible in comparison to the cam. Also, Being that I'm shorter, it feels a lot bigger too. Weight difference is about 6 lbs. and I think the back wheels are 1-2 inches wider.

I have looked for a used in the past, I actually really wanted a frog instead since its a bit lighter and has the air tires, but I lost patience trying to find a nice one and thought id just buy new.

I just joined the groups you mentioned so maybe I'll give it a second go round. Thanks for your input.
