When it happens, it will be a great learning opportunity for everyone involved. Kids are notorious for speaking their minds, and, if you are there, you can always comment about feelings. And, if you aren't there, but it comes back to you that something was said, then it's still a good teachable moment.

Hmm. Well, I would probably talk to my friend. Not because I was really upset or even because my children were really upset (I think I could help them reframe the situation in a way that doesn't hurt as bad) but because *I* would want to know that my child was talking like that to our friends and would assume my friend would feel similarly! I would want to start a dialog about being kind and inclusive with my child and would prefer the heads up.
