Comments: Early on Beco started with the Butterfly 2 carrier, which didn’t allow baby to face out. Due to popular demand, they created the Gemini which does allow baby to face forward. It comes with head support, waist belt, adjustable chest strap and adjustable base. This base alternates to allow for small infants facing mom, then, when baby gets bigger, facing out. You don’t need a separate infant insert. And you can also adjust the carrier so baby rides on your back or hip.
Here are videos of all four carry positions:
New for 2016, Beco added a front pocket to the Gemini’s waist belt. This would be great for a set of keys or a driver’s license and credit card. Drooling pads are now available in two packs for $20. Finally, Beco is adding a new fabric made from recycled bottles (Reprieve) as well as a super breathable mesh fabric called Cool SPF 50. Some fabrics are not available on Beco’s website—they are exclusives for independent baby stores.
Coming next year as well, Beco is releasing a ring sling for $55.
Reader feedback on the Gemini is overwhelmingly positive. Yes, it is pricey, but worth it.
