I am looking at doll houses for DS for his 3rd birthday (this summer) and the OSA dollhouse seems like a good deal. Wondering if it is too girlie for DS? Would you get it for DS? I am also liking the Plan Toys doll houses which seem less gender specific. Anyone have the OSA and care to comment on the PINK?

We built ours over the weekend (and hid it already for Xmas, so it's locked up), but from what I recall only the two roof panels and the two removable doors (front door and a back door) are pink. The only permanent pink portions are really the two roof panels, since the pink doors are removable and slide right off. Even though the roof panels are pink, the house overall isn't too girly. Even the furniture is pretty multi-colored and not glaringly feminine. I think you could actually cover the pink panels with your own colored material or paper if you don't like the pink. The pink colored portion of the roof panels seem to be smooth and shiny over the wood. Maybe you could paint over it even. I'm not very crafty, so I'm not much help in that department. But I must say that I think it is VERY cute, and I am loving the dollhouse.

In the alternative, how about the VERY similar Parents Brand (also made by Battat) version available at Target.com? That one is more gender neutral with the yellow. A little pricier ultimately at $199 plus tax, but there is free shipping right now and 10% off (with AAA membership or other Target.com codes available). The only thing is you don't get the car and garage. Still very cute though.

Now the Target Parents Dollhouse (Battat) which looks like the OSA one is on sale for $159.99 and free shipping. If you are able to factor in the AAA membership discount, it ends up being slightly cheaper than the OSA one--but minus the car and garage. But this one is more gender neutral.
