-Is there such thing as a microscope for a 3 or 4 year old? Or is it just too hard for them to close one eye at this point?

-Anyone know of a mom who makes aprons & chef hats? I want to get these as gifts and would like to support a WAHM or a handmade seller (like Etsy)?

-Can someone point me to "swirly"-type skirts for a 3 year old? Both dress up and real?

Thanks in advance for the help!

hey there!

I don't have personal experience w/ it, but I've heard a lot of people mention the Brock Magiscope. It has a lens you can remove and take with you out in the "field". I'm not sure how well it would work with a younger child though. I wonder if they sell one where they can look through with both eyes? That might be easier for a young kid? I saw this on ebay:

I've heard great things about these: (belle ame pettiskirt)

I see tons of aprons on etsy if I search for "Child Apron" or similar. Here's one very non fru fru one but it does have a hat:

You can search under that seller for a bunch more w/ slightly different material, etc.

Wow. thanks for the links. Those petiskirts are adorable but I'm certain my SIL would have a coronary if we got my niece one. lol.

checking out the aprons now.

ack. Sorry. I was typing w/ dd in my lap earlier and some of my links got deleted to stuff on etsy.

You probably figured this out by now, but ItsyBitsyChicago is a seller with a lot of cute aprons/hats when I searched.

I'm not sure exactly what you are looking for with the skirt, but another idea is Sarah's Silks fairy skirt:

eta: one retailer for the Sarah's Silks stuff:

About the microscope -- "big kid" scopes do come with two eyepieces. But I wonder if something like a hand lens wouldn't be more fun at this point -- easier to put in a pocket and carry around whereever you go!

For aprons, user baileybea has a new store: http://www.baileybea.com/. The aprons look lovely -- I ordered one for my SIL for Christmas, but it was only a day or two ago, so I haven't seen it IRL yet! She also has Sassafrass cooking kits, which look like great fun for kids!
