I want to get DS some wooden vehicles for Christmas, since he's recently become obsessed with all things that have wheels. I'm wondering what your favorites are. I was thinking that the Bajo ones with the holes in them look like they would be easy to hold and push, but wanted to check here first to make sure I'm not missing out on something better.

TIA!

We have some bajo cars and I think they are great. I would mention however that someone posted here a while back saying that something broke off of their car (perhaps a wheel), and was concerned that it was a choking hazard. We have never had any such problems, but I just thought I would mention it considering the fact that you probably wouldn't be able to find any past posts about them right now.

We also have some vehicles from Speil and Holz which I think are really nice:

A wooden dump truck:

A people mover that I am giving to my ds for Christmas:

And we scored on a gigantic flatbed tractor trailer with blocks at our local craft fair last weekend.

If I were to buy more, I would consider some other the other trucks and cars offered by places like a Toy Garden because I think the prices are very reasonable. Some other brands, Vilac, Kinderkram, Fagus, and Guidecraft are supposedly great - but they are REALLY expensive.

ETA: I just read another thread where Beth had posted some links to manufacturers to wooden vehicles, North Star Toys (which I *believe* is the manufacturer of the people mover I linked to at A Toy Garden), and Maple Landmark - which has gotten rave reviews and is made in the U.S.A.

We have some small Vilac cars that DS1 really liked when he was younger. They were around $10-$12 each.

Just tonight I went to a small toy store looking for a wooden car or truck for DS. I got this Melissa and Doug set http://www.oliebollen.com/detail.aspx?ID=6555&cc=go because they seemed like a good size for him to get his hands on to move around. He also loves anything with wheels!
