Need B-day gift idea for 1 yr old

I am going to a b-day party for a 1 year old little guy and need a gift idea that is NOT toys. His mom constantly complains about how many toys she gets from her mom & family and how they have no space for it all.

I am friends with the mom, so that's why we got invited. Not like my 6 mo DD and he actually "play" together. More like they get pushed around town together when their moms walk to starbucks.

What do you guys think of just giving a card to the mom with a $10 Starbucks card that says, "Yay! You made it through the first year! Congrats!"

I think that is a really cute idea! Maybe you could also pick up a board book for her ds to go with the gift card.

ITA...I generally give book gifts. My favorite gift that my DD got this year was a $10 B&N gift card.
