If you are using the Quick Reply box there are two options.

1. Click on the little link titled "Smilies" (it is maroon and underlined) in the box named Posting Rules at the bottom left of the page. This will bring up the smilies menu. Copy and paste the "What to type" name of the smilies you want into your post.

2. Click on the button labeled "Go Advanced" at the bottom center right of the Quick Reply box. This will take you into the advanced Reply to Thread area. There smilies on the right side and the [More] link will bring up the all of the available smilies. Cut and paste same as noted above.

OK, I don't see any smilies anywhere? What am I doing wrong? Is there an option I need to turn on somewhere?

 Can you see the smilies in this post and in my siggie? It looks like from your settings that you should be able to see them, but there may be something in your computer settings (pop-up blocker/firewall/etc) that is blocking them.

I can see smilies that are posted, but I don't see anywhere to include them in a post. On MDC (which uses the same script) they are on the right hand side and I can click on a few and click "More" to see all of them. But right now I don't see any smilies at all.

I typically use the post reply button at the bottom of the thread. And I saw two smilies in your post. A confused one at the beginning and the Star Wars Luke/Darth ones at the bottom.

I just figured it out. You will need to change the Message Editor Interface from Basic to one of the other two options. In your User CP, select Edit Options, scroll all the way to the bottom of the page to the box labeled Miscellaneous Options. Choose either Standard Editor or Enhanced Interface.

If that doesn't fix it, I have no idea what the problem is.

That was my problem, exactly. Thanks for the helpful instructions! :14:

Yay! I have smilies now! But it also looks like my screen isn't big enough to contain this window. Any hints?

A 20" monitor? :p I am not sure what to do about that problem.

Yay! I love smilies. It would be helpful to rename them, though. :14:, for example, would be easier to remember if it were called :clap rather than : 14 :.
