My DD wants to give DS (9 months) a drum for Christmas. Has anyone seen a nice, reasonably priced wooden one anywhere? I like the Shake, Rattle, and Drum set (http://tinyurl.com/yp4rtv) but would like to stay closer to $10. Any ideas?

I am sure others will have suggestions as well, but here is something I found in a quick search. I have seen others suggest West Music in the past. Search their other drums as well. They have some in the $20 range that look nice too.

We have and LOVE the Plan Toys wooden drum. My now-21 month old enjoys it - and a 3 year old who came over the other day just couldn't put it down! I can't recommend it enough - it's beautiful, has a pleasant and not-too-loud sound, and will last a long, long time!

I got it at a local toystore for $15, but it retails for between $12 and $17 online.

Citymama, that Plan Toys drum is exactly what I was looking for. Thank you! I'll have to do some calling to local stores to see if anyone has it; otherwise hopefully I can still order it in time for Christmas. Thank you again!

I'm so glad everyone likes the Plan Toys drum. I ordered it yesterday. :-) DD thought it was perfect when she saw the picture...and then asked if she could get a drum for Christmas too. :-) I told her perhaps her brother would share his.

Thanks for the Plan toys drum recommendation. Picked it up at a local toy store this weekend and expect DS will love his gift from Santa!

#2 loved this at a fair over the summer, this thread just reminded me. Now I need to search B&M stores in the area for one.

What does the plan toys drum sound like? Is it more like a xylaphone (sp?) b/c it's wood on wood and had the different pitches?

Have you ever heard a tongue drum? It is unique. It sounds nicer than a wooden xylophone. It's hard to express.

I am also looking for another drum. A bit more priced.

Have anyone else seen these?

Thanks!

One of the reasons I like it is it has a gentle, not-too-loud sound. It doesn't sound like a xylophone, but like a muted drum with slightly different tones on different parts of the wood. Can't really explain it in any better way!
