Anyone using xylitol for teeth, instead of or in conjunction with fluoride? DD#1's dentist found an "area to watch" between her 2 molars last visit. We are flossing every night now (hanging head in shame, we never used to very often b/c her teeth have gaps and we only flossed when there was something stuck in them, but we are religious about brushing). We used fluoride drops with her for her first year (also doing with DD#2) as our water isn't fluoridated and her dentist, our dentist AND our dr all recommended that we use fluoride. We also have always used fluoride kids toothpaste, again on the dentist's recommendation.
We have now added the Spry infant xylitol drops and their toothpaste, though the toothpaste is NOT a hit with DD#1. We are also using the infant drops with DD#2 (along with fluoride and vit. D drops). DD#1 also gets a multivitamin daily. We switched from gummies to a hard chewable about 6m ago on the advice of her dentist.
My question is with the Spry infant drops, do you just give it to them? Or do you smear it on their teeth -- and if so, HOW?!?
TIA!
