Gift ideas for 14 and 16 yo boys?

My friend will have the 2 teenage boys she once had as foster children for Christmas this year because the family situation is not good right now. I have been trying to come up with ideas for a small gift we could get the boys but I am way out of element. My friend suggested clothes (as they lost theirs in an eviction) --but I don't even know what to look for --I sound so old asking "What are the young people wearing these days?" or something portable (like games or books). So I thought I might just put it out here to see if anyone has a brilliant suggestion (as you guys often do!)... TIA

Honestly, at that age, gift cards. It pains me because I love to shop for my nephews but they really like having the ability to go out and spend money on what they really want. Maybe a Target card? It is pretty easy for just about anyone to find something they want there.

Yeah, honestly, at this late date (and with my complete lack of knowledge of teen style), I'd go with gift cards.
