Sometimes it is very difficult to feel thankful for the wonderful gifts that just showed up at your door while you are scooping out a billion packing peanuts one handful at a time to avoid them going everywhere. Especially if almost everything in the box is unbreakable. I find I have to really work at transferring my annoyance to the poor sap at the mailbox place who went so gung ho with the stuff.
Ironically enough, the whole reason the box was crammed full of packing peanuts was to protect a glass jar of cookies and fudge and although the glass jar made it OK the cookies (delicate meringues) did not and are a crumbled mess. To add insult to injury, the ones that my mom put in a zip lock bag and just stuffed into a stocking for DD came through fine. It was just the carefully protected ones (mine) that didn't make it.
