Ergo baby carrier -- hip carry?

The hip carry seems ackward ... is this normal? Seems like he can fall out? Anyone have advice?

I do not prefer the hip but it does get better with practice.

I find the hip carry in the ERGO awkward as well, and the straps ride up my neck. I much prefer a pouch for hip carry, and I don't have to deal with switching the buckles on my ERGO.

I really like the hip carry and it does not seem awkward to me. DD is very petite, so I don't know if that has anything to do with it. I first used it when she was about 4 months old and still use it now she is 14 months. Which way do you think he could fall out?
