Should I be embarrassed that I'm always the one who starts these threads? :0:

Well, as the materialistic weasel in the group, I wanna know what y'all got for Hannukah and/or Christmas. I'll start (I'm actually really proud of DH this year)...

- Skip Hop City Chic diaper bag in Columbus Circle
- Pearl bracelet from Beadiful Baby with Avery's name and birthstone
- The 3 P's from Victoria's Secret (his traditional holiday gift to me) - pajamas, panties, and perfume
- Some freezer-cooking cookbooks (yes, I actually asked for those)
- Some BareMinerals makeup
- Brown leather ankle boots
- Zing camera cover for my Nikon D40 (which DH calls a "camera condom" because it's "slightly vulgar looking" in his opinion) http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/75788-REG/Zing_Designs_510_104_Standard_Zoom_SLR_Cover.html
- A stocking full of Cadburry Cream Ornament Eggs! :)

I also got some great stuff from other family members/friends, including a digital photo frame and digital photo keychain, 1,000 thread count Egyptian Cotton sheets, some artwork for my kitchen, jewelery, and clothes (which I desperately needed).

And MIL/FIL got us Tivo and a year's worth of service! :14: :D

DH and I don't exchange gifts. His family does a dirty santa gift exchange and I got an indoor/outdoor thermometer. DH got a decorative stump.

My mom got me earrings and wooden hangers. And no, I don't know why I she got me hangers.

Despite the gifts, I think this was the best Christmas we ever had. DD had such a fantastic time and all the families actually got along...what more could I ask for? (Actually, the materialistic weasel in me could ask for lots of things, but I'm trying to squelch the weasel, lol!)

I got

~A Canon Rebel XTi... WOO HOO!
~a GC for Victoria's Secret 100 bucks to spend on bras and panties and otherwise
~ Mattress topper for our bed
~a puffy warm jacket
~Laundry Hampers (yes I asked for these)
~ GC to the local movie theater so DH and I can see something that isn't a family movie!
~new towels

The kids cleaned up too!

Wow, I thought I did well (DH sucks at gifts), but not compared to the rest of you!

I got:
Tiffany necklace (matches the bracelet he got me last year)
Lululemon Apres Yoga jacket (I've been wanting one for 2 years, they sell out within hours)
Bourne collection DVDs (3pack!!!)
Ken Follet "Pillars of the Earth" book
Clinique makeup in my stocking
Chocolate in my stocking
Body shop stuff in my stocking
ergo pen in my stocking

We don't usually spend that much on each other at Christmas.

i"m just so glad to be DONE with Christmas- isn't that sad?

We've been a bit busy, needless to say, so neither me nor DH put a ton of thought into our gifts to each other.

from DH:
A remote start for my car (it's so dang cold up here, I could really use it)
XM radio
5 different boxes of Godiva chocolates, Godiva cookies, etc.
gift certificates for spa treatments

from ILs:
a year subscription to People magazine (I wouldn't have asked for this, but it could be fun)

from brother and wife:
a slicer/shredder attachment for my KitchenAid mixer- am very excited about this

from Dad:
an antique hope chest that my Great-grandfather made. I am very, very excited about this gift since I named Gator after this relative and he is very special to me. Also, this great grandfather had a lot of kids and grandkids so I consider myself lucky that anything from him was passed down to me.

I also got some little things from my godmother, friends and other relatives. My best gift though, was being able to show off my twins to my extended family. As each year passes, I realize how special it is that all of my grandmother's children, grandchildren and great gchildren still meet on Xmas eve. Every year I spend Xmas eve with my second and third cousins who still enjoy getting together even though my grandparents passed away 13 years ago. And we still like each other!!!

Sounds like you made out like a bandit this Xmas, btw. :)

Jeana and Melissa I'm glad you got the clothing you asked for (sweater and yoga jacket)!

DH shopped on Saturday and I didn't want him to be stuck for hours at the mall. He said he wanted to get me a spa day (I said yes, yes!) and so I have a gift certificate for the salon closest to our house, I'll need to decide if I want a massage and facial or some other combo. He also wrote a very sweet card.

From other family, I got $100 cash, some songbooks that I asked for for my summer music theatre audition, and a DVD of My Fair Lady (I think I already have it though).

My present to myself is acting classes starting in January.

I got Dave tix to Spamalot and got the idea based on Fairy's Las Vegas trip. And some wrenches.

An IOU from Skymall for a Slanket that I've been dropping hints about ;) (it's a big honkin' polar fleece blanket with giant sleeves). Our den has very little heat in it, so it's aways fa-reeeeeeeezing when watching TV

An anatomy colouring book for school (yes, it's something I wanted) :)

Lots of school supplies - coloured pencils, index cards, regular pencils, erasers, etc.

Curly Whirlys - these yummy British caramel braids dunked in chocolate (a whole bunch of 'em)

And a Braccialini Firenze handbag that I bought myself a few weeks ago. I can't find a pic of it online right now, but it's *very* awesome. Trust me. :)

I also got myself a People subscription with that Time Warner coupon that was floating around here last week, and renewed my Real Simple one. Oh, and I got one for Old House mag, too.

If/whenever we can find one, we're planning on getting a Wii, so that will be the 'big' present for both of us this year. Also, we're getting a new laptop in a month or so. The one we have will be overhauled (it's on it's last legs) and will likely become 'mine' for school.

But, the best present yet, Jonathan did FOUR full dishwasher loads of dishes cleaning up after Christmas dinner and did the rest of the kitchen after his brother's family left. Now, that's a damn good present, if I say so myself. He also let me sleep most of today. I say that's pretty close to on par with a goody from Tiffany's. Well, maybe a small goody from Tiffany's. :P

Stacy, Girlie, you got one hell of a stash, woman! I bow down to you!

Well my hubby spoiled me rotten. :D

I got a Tiffany bracelet (the travel charms bracelet)
80G iPod
Clarisonic Face Brush
Trish McEvoy Makeup Planner
Plus stocking stuff (bath goodies, candles, undies etc)
He got all of it on his own....I did hint about the Clarisonic though.

From my family I got some good stuff like new flannel sheets, a Vera Bradley Large Duffle, Lululemon workout clothes.

We had such a fun family day....DH had to go back to work today though :(

My dh gave me an AWESOME gift this year. He got me a gift certificate for a 2 hour closet evaluation and wardrobe consultation AND a 2 hour personal shopping trip with a local stylist who specializes in helping you find great affordable clothes for that flatter you. She'll go through my whole closet before we go shopping and help me decide what to keep and what to chuck and then help me find a bunch of new clothes for my post-baby #2 self!

I've been complaining forever that I most of my closet and that I never know what to buy and he actually heard me. THAT is the best present of all! I really didn't need more "stuff" and hardly wear the jewelry that I have. He didn't want to get me presents for the baby, but wanted to get me something to pamper me, which I LOVE. This actually tops the 90 minute prenatal massage that he got me for my birthday 2 weeks ago!

I got him the new home theatre system that he's really wanted and he's a happy camper!

I think a lot of you got some pretty fantastic gifts! I'm happy with mine though it's not quite so fantastic.

From DH:
satin pillowcases in red
new fancy, cooling pillow
new 500 thread count sheets

IL's:
$500 (for me, DH, and DD)

Other family:
LL bean tote
yet more new bedding
silver celtic style pendant from Silpada
christmas decorations and ornaments
GC for Hanna
$200 from grandma
RL brown leather gloves
various leather office stuff (even a red leather coffee travel mug---how weird is that?)
4 porcelain cheese plates (this is a little weird too since I don't even live in a house and thus don't really "entertain")
A portable GPS thing from my Dad
Red leather bag from B.Makowsky

Although I appreciate all the generous gifts, I have to say that I awoke this morning feeling a little uneasy with all of the new stuff. Does anyone else feel a little funny about getting so much stuff?

My birthday was Thanksgiving weekend and I turned 21 so I got a few big presents then and not as many now for Channukah.

From my parents I got a 16GB Ipod Touch. I got a string of pearls from my grandparents (a nice strand from the jewelry store in the area called IV Karats). One aunt gave me $100, another gave me a sweater/scarf.

For Channukah I got some clothes from my parents, money from my grandparents, my aunt got me a I Tunes G/C, another aunt gave me money.

I bought a car last week and my grandparents gave me $2000 to use as part of the down payment, which was really generous. When we sell our other car my parents are going to give me that money as well to help out with my payments.

My parents just had to put 15K+ into our house because we needed to get new pipes, both going to and from the water line, so I could say that is what they got me for Channukah.

As much as I love to get presents I am happiest that I am finally healthy, and no present in the world could top that, well except a new Coach purse, lol.

Wow, I have to say that I am blown away by some of the gifts you guys received. Especially from other family members. The only people I receive gifts from every year is my DH and my parents. Not complaining though!

My DH got me:
GC to Barnes and Noble
GC to Victoria's Secret
Lots of Body Shop
New Calendar, gets me this every year
Tickets to a musical

We really cut back this year due to a job change, so I was surprised at all I did get. Plus I bought a few things for myself :)

I didn't get a ton of stuff because we had to fly this year so I asked them to keep it pretty packable. H got me a new Ipod shuffle and a Swarovski crystal animal (I collect them) which kind of surprised me. I didn't get him anything so I felt a little guilty but not much. :) MIL gave me cash, BIL gave me a Gap gift card, SIL and her fiance gave me a Ann Taylor Loft gc and new bike shorts. FIL also got me bike shorts and Itunes gcs. We haven't had xmas with my parents yet (that's tomorrow) and I'm a little worried about what my mom came up with for DS!

Well, I think it really counts for last Christmas too, when the only thing DH got me was literally an ornament. He's been hearing about that all year, lol.

And my birthday's January 7th, which is also the same day LSU is playing in the National Championship, so I'm expecting a big fat nothing for that. :)

You will love those wooden hangers. I decided one year to replace all my wire hangers with wooden ones and I love them. If you need more Nordstrom Rack has them for a great price. I gave them to my sister one year and she said the same thing.

We have a small Christmas rule, used to be $10 or so, has migrated upwards since then. Honestly, it is not about money but about finding each other little stuff we will really enjoy and also because we shop together for a big present (art) for a combined Xmas/Anniversary expenditure. J is pretty consistent in stretching the rule, which I have mixed feelings about. Still, I know he buys things on sale and stashes them forever so I don't worry about it too much.

This is what I received from him:

Cashmere warm things from Banana Republic (gloves, hat and today I added a scarf with the extra money from an exchange on something else!)

3 CDs- Boom Bap Project - Circumstance Dictates
Gabriel Teodros - lovework
Blonde Redhead - Misery is a Bvtterfly

Sour gummy worms

4 pairs of funky tights and socks

Silicone brushes for the kitchen

Grater for chocolate and hard cheeses

Funny drawings

From my little brother I received a very nice waffle iron, Itunes card, vintage Charlie Brown book and tootsie rolls.

My MIL sent a Cuisinart Ice cream Maker (awesome!)

I received an insane amount of Starbucks gift cards from people who donate to/belong to the charity that I manage. I have them in my visor in the car and I doubt I will get through them all. A mystery person through work sent me a big spa certificate anonymously with a thanks for doing my job well and a nice woman that volunteers in my office got me a gift certificate to the lunch spot nearby my office. All totally unexpected and really appreciated.

My wife and I agreed that we weren't exchanging gifts this year - BUT - I did get a nice gift card from my office staff for Best Buy (they all know what a closet video game geek I am) - and I went out and bought myself a PlayStation 3 on Christmas eve.

My staff also surprised my wife and got her the Christopher Radko "Celebrate Adoption 2007" ornament from someone on Ebay. We were unable to find it ourselves and refused to pay the money the Ebay folks wanted for it.

And the BEST thing of all - both of us got! Word that Ben's I-600 approval will be forthcoming on 1/2/08 (the officer in the Pittsburgh CIS office that "approves" all I-600's is on vacation until 1/2/08 and apparently noone else can do it as frustrating at it is to lose yet another week) - so we're thinking that this 2nd adoption will be moving right along sometime in February (or March at the latest) with a travel call. We're also talking about me traveling to South Korea to pick him up while my wife stays at home with Zach vs. having the escort bring Ben home.

Okay, here's what I got this year:

Scandisk MP3 player from Dh:14:
Sweater from MIL
Dh and I also got a lot of Vosges chocolates from BIL and SIL:44:

The girls made out like bandits between the ILs, their cousins, Dh's college buddy, and other family friends. We'll have to pack everything into a box and check it as luggage to make it home.

My DH really came through and gave me $$$ for glass classes at my favorite studio. I am so excited to be getting back to something creative that I love to do. I haven't been able to make beads in 3 years (!!!!!!!!) due to an overseas move where some equipment got 'lost' and then for the last year and 1/2 due to DD. The fumes are dangerous so I can't bead at home, and I only recently found this amazing studio in my area.
Ahhhhhh, the joys of playing with fire! I can't wait!!!!

oh, and I really love the Ashley Judd brand sweaters my mom got me. Nothing really expensive, but the colors are beautiful and the styles are super feminine. I heart girly clothes!

Those are my favorites. :0)
