I really wasn't into them back when they were huge (I was a metal head then - and I guess I still am :52: ) - but later on I really got into them as their popularity was waining. Sadly I never had a chance to see them live.

Anyway - it would seem Neil Schon (the guitar player and pretty much driving force of Journey) discovered this Filipino guy and has ended up having him join the band to replace Steve Perry (vocals). The similarity is uncanny.

Some more videos of him and his old band:

Check it out if you ever were (or are) into Journey.

Wow... that's almost unbelievable... if you just listen and don't look, it's easy to believe it is SP....

Holy crap, that's crazy. He's totally Steve Perry, except Filipino!

I LOVE Journey. H and I saw them in concert a couple of times (with REO Speedwagon, no less). They're featured prominently on my new Shuffle that I got for xmas.

I KNOW!!!!!
I heard about this guy a couple of weeks ago... it's UNCANNY. And when you consider that the youtube stuff is unmastered and all the Journey stuff we know and love was done in the studio in a controlled setting...
The new album they are putting out with this guy is going to be AWESOME!

Amazing. BUT, can you listen to Don't Stop Believing without thinking of The Sopranos? ;)

Wow, that's uncanny. I thought the guy was lipsyncing.... Apparently not.

Wow! I just watched a clip of Steve Perry afterwards for comparision. Arnel Pineda actually has better diction.

Wow, you totally made my morning! I loooove Journey. (And most cheesy 80's ballad type music come to think of it...)

And tylersmama: A Journey/REO Speedwagon concert...Swoon!

Wow! DH is a big music person and can generally tell you anything you ever wanted (and didn't want) to know about music, bands, etc. Even he was surprised to hear it wasn't Steve Perry. He knew it was a different band because the musical parts were wrong though. He's not a Journey fan, but I am.
