Does any one use the waterproof pads (that don't attach) on top of the sheet or are they sapposed to go under the sheet? If it is on top is it a safety issue even for a newborn (not that mobile)? I am talking about the large, almost crib-size flannel-y like ones. They also have ones for the bassinette.

The general rule is no loose bedding, so it should go under the sheet. My newborn was actually very mobile - he scooted from one end of the crib to the other (and turned himself 180 degrees) when he was 3 or 4 weeks old!

That said, I don't like to put him directly on those waterproof pads because they just make him sweat. I have a flannel sheet over a waterproof pad, and use a sheet protector (about a foot wide, ties to the crib) under his head. The sheet protectors are very soft and t-shirt like, and he doesn't mind those. I got them at BRU.
