Mattress Fit??

Can anyone tell me how "tight" a mattress should fit in a crib? Should there be any room between the mattress and the sides of the crib itself?

I think the guideline is that you shouldn't be able to get two fingers between the crib side and mattress. Probably the JPMA has the guidelines listed in their Safe & Sound brochure. Check out http://www.jpma.org.

The mattress should fit very tightly into the crib. There shouldn't be any wiggle room there at all. Obviously if you can force your finger in between them it's okay, but the mattress shouldn't be loose in the frame of the crib.
