My son's outgrowing the bassinet we keep by our bed, but I want him to stay in our room for some time, then eventually move to a crib in his own room (around 1 year?)

So I thought I'd buy an Arms Reach Co-Sleeper next. But -- I've heard some people use a crib like a Co-sleeper. They lower the side, & push it next to their bed, & they say it works as well as the Co-Sleeper.

If we did that, then i wouldn't have to buy a crib *and* an Arms Reach. (already wish I'd bought the Arms Reach instead of the bassinet, I think).

Any thoughts??

Cribs were the orginal co-sleepers. I know in one of Dr. Sears books (maybe it was attachment parenting..if that's one of his titles, it has a picture of how to side car a crib..On second thought it's probably nighttime parenting that would make more sense)
