I am expecting my first child 2/11/04. I have been looking for a crib that I love and I have taken a real liking to a new collection 4500 crib from Morigeau Lepine. In Baby Bargains they mention Morigeau's very quiet rail ,however the crib I saw in the store gave off a loud clack when putting the rail up. I thought maybe this was a quirk on the model I was looking at however I tried different Morigeau's in different stores and they all made more noise than the Paili's or Ragazzi's. Has anyone else experienced this? Does anyone own a Morigeau crib and find this noise to be commonplace? How big a deal is this really? I am 5'1 so I know in time I will need to use the railing. Any words of wisdom are appreciated!

While I have ordered a Morigeua crib, it hasn't yet been delivered so I cannot answer your question about the loudness of the clicking. However, my thought regarding whether it is a big deal is that a click of crib rail seems like such an unavoidable noise that baby will just have to get used to. Yet, my baby hasn't yet arrived either, so perhaps my perspective will change if everytime I close the rail the "click" awakens baby and/or baby starts to cry!

Hello!

I have the 780 crib, and, unfortunately, the click is commonplace on all ML cribs that I have seen. To remedy the click, depress the rail with your leg, like you would letting it down, and raise the rail silently!

Hope this helps!

Good luck!

Thank you for the response. I plan to go back and look at the crib one more time. I will try your suggestion.

If you look at the recent thread about Pali's poorly made cribs, there is a post from a man named Jim who is a children's store retailer (towards the bottom). He mentions something about ML's loud clicks.

I have a crib from the the Morigeau 2000 line and yes, it clicks very loudly. Fortunately, I am 5.11 and hubby is 6.3, so we don't really use the rail--we just lean over the crib. In 2+ years, we've used it maybe 5x.

Aside from this, we *love* this crib! So well made! Good luck!
