A friend of mine is expecting baby #2 and is looking for a decent crib that converts to a toddler bed and then a double bed. She would like to spend $200 or less. Does anyone know of a model that fits these criteria?

There's a Jenny Lind crib at JC Penney's that's $199 (15% off sale right now so $170) that says it's a 3-in-1. They have other cribs that are convertible for around $279 (before sale). I can't attest to the quality, but the Book says they're fine and I seem to recall other posts talking about them being good quality.

We have this one, also from JCP:

It is very sturdy. It doesn't say in the listing, but it is made by Million Dollar Baby, which gets relatively high marks in Baby Bargains book.

Tips: Go to www.dealhunting.com to see what the latest discount codes are. When we bought ours, we were able to get a percentage off plus free shipping. If your friend is paying for shipping, it helps to have it delivered to the JCP Outlet store (I remember that you also live in the Columbus, Ohio area). That saves a lot on the costs. I was able to transport ours home in my minivan.

Does the JC Penney convertible Jenny Lind have the finger-trigger drop side or the knee-push drop side?
