forever mine crib - unsanded surfaces

Has anyone else had trouble with the all-american crib lately? We received one with many rough surfaces with potential to scratch baby's skin. Also, the drop gate is very hard to move up and down. They sent us a 2nd one, but w/out even taking it out of box, we can tell that the surfaces are no smoother! So, the manager has said that she cannot guarantee that any crib they send will have fully sanded surfaces. We have the option of keeping this crib and getting $75 in compensation, or return crib and get store credit (which won't help us, b/c we still won't have a crib). Should I keep the crib and risk ruining the finish by sanding it myself?
