And from the looks of it there is not alot of money in the little cookie jar so she is actually asking me to see what crib she could buy. She is looking for something somewhat innexpensive (lower than $200.00 thats how innexpensive she needs) so that she can also afford to purchase the changing high low and the other nursery and baby necesities...Her partner and her dont count with alot of support in all this so shower gifts are out of the picture. They are going to have to mainly do all of this on their own...

Any good cribs at around this price??

TIA

I think the better brands you can get for $200 or less would probably be :

Simmons (the simpler ones, like maybe Matino?)
Sorelle (sometimes you see the Rita for 199)
And what about the Jc Penney catalogue? They supposedly have good quality, inexpensive cribs.

I would say to check out JC Penney and Sears. Both have decent quality, inexpensive cribs. Also, the Jenny Lind style cribs typically seem to be less expensive than other styles. She may want to pass on the changing high/low. Those are usually really expensive. She might be better off buying a regular chest or dresser and attaching a changing pad on top or just using the changing table on the PNP as the only changing table if cost is a big issue.

Awesome, tell your sister congrats!

Do you have BRU in PR? THey do have several cribs under $200. I know the Jenny Lind's run about $100 as well, the Simmons Matino $199 etc. I have the Jenny Lind Changing table, which was 69.99 and it's held up great so far. No complaints! We didn't get a high low because they are expensive. We have the changing table in our room and a pack in play in the living room, which is working out great. Noah's actually getting to big for the pnp so we may move the changing table out to the living room and affix a pad to our dresser. So those are some cheaper options.

There are people on this board who have been really happy with Childesigns. I see them all the time on ebay.

Here aer some sites with inexpensive cribs

http://www.kmart.com/family/index.jsp?categoryId=821350&cp=788452 Kmart has a childesigns for an awesome price. This same crib was being sold by Babystyle last year.

A great option for quality cribs (childesigns brand) is from a seller on eBay (if you're comfortable with buying online from ebay, that is!) -- called life-stages. They sell drop-shipped, new cribs from childesigns (as well as other childesigns products like matching changing tables, etc) for MUCH less than anywhere else online. They ship pretty quickly as well, took me about 10 days from my payment to recieve the item.

Here's a link to the seller's current auctions:

http://cgi6.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewSellersOtherItems&userid=life-stages&include=0&since=-1&sort=3&rows=50

I bought a Geneva convertible Childesigns crib from them for about 100 + 30 shipping, much less than I found it on sale for online-- the least I found it was for about $240 or so, plus shipping. Here's a link from universe.com: http://www.babyuniverse.com/pro.asp?store=baby&lang=&id=16368 and a link to childesign's website (where you can read more about the brand): http://www.g2w.com . Childesigns is also rated by the Fields', but I don't have the newest edition so I'm not sure where they fall now (but the crib I have is sturdy and solid wood, put together very easily, looks very nice, and meets current US safety standards for crib mfrs).

The seller has several buy-it-now auctions, but the better prices can be found on regular bidding (and sniping them @ the end).

There's another seller on ebay that sells new cribs as well, called iepvisions-- but their feedback contained too many "late shipment" and "broken item, unresolved" feedback that made me nervous (and we bought late into our pregnancy, so we couldn't risk waiting several months for shipment!)

Good luck; we decided to spend less on the crib (and still get a quality one) so we could splurge on other things for baby... :) Congrats to sis, as well!! :)

EDIT: Sorry, I didn't notice you were from PR! (My partner's from PR!!) But the seller I recommended only ships to the continental US :(

You know i was looking for opinions on the child designs cribs since i think they have a cherry one at walmart. I am looking for something that meets the certification standards since still here we are finding boxes without the certification of unknown companies....They are cheap but i told my sister NO WAY...Your right about the drop shipping LOL no one will drop ship here and a crib box is pretty big so shipping would be a killer. We have a kmart, walmart and a TRU thats about all she wrote..The other is very very very expensive baby boutiques we have tons of those but they overcharge terribly for crib. I found a number to a Child D. Crib distributor here in PR im going to try and contact him and see if he can sell one to me straight from his warehouse(see if it saves some money and if he has more models to choose form than walmart..)

Thanks guys for all your help i think the pnp is a great idea for a changing table in the meanwhile and buying just a regular dresser would be the best option to save....

What about getting a regular dresser instead of the pricey high-low changing thing, and then a simple changing table with shelves? That's what we did, I think our changing table was $90 from BRU and it help up as long as we were still able to change Ds on it (until he got too wiggly) and we still use it to store all of the diapering items.

I was also going to suggest eBay for cribs...at worst case, if you find a used one (I know they aren't recommended), you can just check it over yourselves to see if it meets the new standards. Ours was a hand-me-down from my youngest cousin (now she's 12), and it still met the latest standards, and it was a cheapo Delta crib (I didn't like how it was designed, but that's another story, it was still safe).

We looked at a large number of cribs, high and low, and bought a Jardine one at BRU for $200. We LOVE it. We thought for sure it was a misprint on the price. To go with it we are using a white dresser from my Grandparents original bedroom suit that is high enough to use as a changing table with a pad on top.
