View Full Version : Using a chest as a changing table

I purchased a three drawer chest and raised changing table by Ragazzi. There is not really room on the chest once the table is attached; does anyone have suggestions about where to store the "stuff" (e.g. vaseline, wipes, etc) that I will need to change DD? I know that I could use the drawers, but I am worried that they are not high enough.
Thanks!

How about a shelf mounted on the wall above?

That's a good idea - thanks.

Oops - forgot the link!

Here's something I found from Pottery Barn that gives you an idea. You could hang a small baby mobile from the dowel rack:

I also like the idea of the shelving above, or you could try hanging baskets.

If you don't like the idea of stuff above the changing table (some parents do worry about things potentially falling - I personally don't mind) you could try a narrow bookshelf next to the changing table with baskets.
I don't fully understand what you mean about the height being a problem. The biggest concern I have always heard in terms of using a dresser is having to back up to open the drawer. In order to avoid this problem (which probably wouldn't have been such a big deal), I took out the top drawer, and had DH put a couple of wooden dividers in. The dividers weren't really necessary, but I really liked the look of them on this changing table:

HTH!
