Hi everyone, newbie here! I've been lurking for awhile but finally decided to start posting. A little background on me--I live in the Washington DC area and my first baby (a girl) is due June 6th. I am having a lot of trouble finding the Kolcraft crib mattress that was recommended in the book and on this message board. I've read that other posters are having trouble locating it too, as it is no longer on the Target website. I've called some B&M stores but haven't had any success. I finally found this one but I'm a little skeptical b/c there is not much of a description of it, and the price is higher than I thought it would be (I thought it was about $30). I know that there is a new Kolcraft "Pediatric Coil" mattress and I want to make sure I don't get that one. So, is this the one some of us have been trying to find??

I am not sure because the one that I bought from Target 1 1/2 years ago has the alphabet on it.

I don't think that's the one. The foam mattress everyone raved about has pastel letters and numbers on it. I tried to find a picture for you, but it's no longer available at Kolcraft's website. If you live in mid-west, try Meijer, that's where I found mine.

HTH :)

Thanks for your responses. I don't think that's the one either and I've decided to give up my search on the Kolcraft. I don't think I'm going to find one around the Washington DC area, so I've decided to go with the Colgate Classica I foam mattress instead. I appreciate your feedback though!

Hi - I am also from the DC/NoVA area. :)

May I ask where you purchased your Colgate Classica I?

THANKS!

Hi! I ended up just ordering it online at babycatalog.com. It was about $95 total, including shipping. I think that's a pretty decent price for that mattress and I didn't feel like shopping at a B&M store. As it gets closer to my due date, the convenience of online ordering gets more appealing. I just didn't want to venture out in the traffic, etc. after having such poor luck with the Kolcraft. Sorry I don't have any more information for you. You could try Bye Bye Baby, Burlington Coat FActory/baby depot or BRU if you don't want to order it online.

We originally bought our Classica mattress from Baby catalog, but after a round of shipping problems and their inability to solve the problem, we bought the mattress from a local store, Great Beginnings in Maryland. If I remember, it was $89.It has worked well thru 3 kids. Hope this helps.
