I'm considering buying a white crib, but I'm concerned about the paint chipping. Not only for safety reasons, but because I don't want the "shabby chic" look :)

I know that the metal cribs that are powder-coated (and therefore nearly impossible to scratch or chip), but what about wood cribs? Anyone have experience with painted cribs? How did the finish live up? We'd like to have another child, so I want the crib to last.

In the end, I may go with a stained wood, because scratches in wood are fairly easy to fix.
