Help! Need suggestions to prevent teething on crib!

My 10 month old has chewed down to the bare wood on our Pali crib. Splinters and all! The reviews I have read about teething rails are not good. Most say that they come right off and are worthless. I need help! He's going to be in the crib for a while longer and I need to make it safe for him. ANY suggestions would be appreciated!
