I plan to get a Sorelle Lana or Rita Bella crib, and I noticed that there was some discussion a while a go about the mattress supports being changed from wood slats to the metal spring. Has all of this been straigntened out? If I order online, am I pretty much guaranteed to get the metal support? Where have people ordered from and been happy? TIA!

Hi Melanie,

If I remember correctly, the mattress supports for both the Lana and Rita have been switched back to the metal springs in April. It was just these two models.

I ordered the Lana from http://www.albeebaby.com. I went with Albee since they carried the Colgate Classica matress I wanted to purchase as well. You can also order it from http://www.jdee.net. Both retailers ship quickly. The crib arrives double boxed.

HTH!

I have also been looking at the Rita or Lana cribs - unfortunately, there is nowhere I can look IRL! I'm really wondering about the stability of the crib as well as how smooth/quiet the drop side is. Every time we look at cribs at stores DH teases me because for some reason it's harder for me to get the crib side to drop than it is for him, so the smoothness (is that a word? :) ) is important so I don't wake baby up. TIA!

I haven't seen them in person yet, but am going out this weekend to a store that is supposed to carry Sorelle. I will post about it next week. But, from what I remember in my reading on the boards, it is pretty stable and quiet, especially considering the cost of the crib. Definitely a step up from the brands you would find at Target and those kind of places.

I checked out the Sorelle cribs today. The store had the Rita, but not the Lana, but I imagine the dropsides are the same. I thought it was very smooth. They had it in 3 colors and I must say that that there was some variation in the 3 cribs. But I also noticed this for pricier brands like Pali. How quiet it is depends on technique. I had never touched a crib before in my life. If you just pulled the side up, it made a good noise when clicking into place. But if you pull it up slowly with your knee pushing the side in, it can be pretty quiet. I noticed the same thing with most cribs. I am going to get a Sorelle, still. Hope that helps!

Hi,

I recently ordered the rita bella from babyandteen.com. The crib arrived in less than 3 weeks and it was in excellent condition. I, too, was concerned about the mattress support and was please to see that it did, indeed, have the spring support. Honestly, I was concerned about a possible bait and switch with an online supplier and was pleased that wasn't the case. From my research, babyandteen.com had the lowest price--224.97, no tax and free shipping. Since they ship directly from the manufacturer there's no tracking information provided and their website still reflected a "pending" status on my crib, even the day after it arrived. Despite that, though, I would recommend them. I had no problems and am pleased both with the crib's condition, the timing, and especially the price!

Happy shopping!
