I found the colgate one online and I see it seems to be forcing me to buy a California one...doesn't that just me it's going to be lathered in fire-retardant chemicals? ick! I'm so glad we & Ds have fairly new mattresses that will hopefully last a long time so we don't have to get these new ones.

Is there any other reason they are different for california?

TIA

I don't know. I would have the same fear and would do some more searcing online.

We just bought DS's twin mattress and it was fire retardant under the new standards (not California though) and when I did some further searching, both on the tags and online, I learded that the Serta Fireblocker (or whatever it's called), is fire retardant by the fabrics/materials it's put together with, rather than a chemical. It denied having any chemical addititives whatsoever. I felt safe buying it then.

I believe the reason is a new California state law.
