Wash bedding before using??

Do I need to wash my new baby bedding before putting it on the crib mattress and around the crib? I have a dust ruffle,crib bumper,and sheets. Thanks :)

The short answer: absolutely!

Many textile products in the US are treated with chemicals before they are shipped to stores. You need to wash everything for your baby before you use it. Formaldehyde is a common chemical used on cotton textiles.

Also, you need to make sure that the sheets, etc haven't shrunk in the wash before you pass the time when you can return them.
