View Full Version : Good Crib Sheets to fit a 6" depth mattress?

I just purchased a coil mattress that has a depth of 6". I've heard from so many people that not all linens fit all so called "standard sized" mattresses b/c of the difference in depth.

Any suggestions? TIA

No suggestions, but how heavy is that mattress??? I don't envy you the late night sheet changes!

Hi, Kate!

I also have a 6 inch thick mattress. I tried the Carters sheets from BRU. I washed them according to package directions and they would not fit over the mattress. I don't know if they shrank in the wash, or if they were too small even before I washed them. BRU was great about taking them back and refunding my money.

I did a live chat at landsend.com with one of their representatives and got the dimensions of the sheets, including the depth of the pocket. I then measured that against my mattress and thought they would do well, so we placed an order. I got the Barnyard knit sheets (which are now on sale!) and they fit well, even after washing. I have no complaints with them, but they haven't really been tested out very well with us. DS has slept either in our arms or in his car seat almost since birth, because he has congestion and the doctors won't let me give him any decongestant.

Anyway, my vote is for Lands' End sheets!!

Thanks for the info!!! I'm having the rest of my bedding made (she's making one sheet for me so I'm going to see if I like it), but will also go to LE especially since they're on sale.

Thanks again!!!

Kate,

I may also try the sheets that Alexa mentioned in the thread titled "the softest sheets ever". I am going to go to the website (I believe that it is www.fleecebaby.com) and e-mail them to see if their sheets would fit over a 6" tick mattress. I'll let you know what they say, if I decide to try them.

Kate-
We too have a 6" mattress. We have one of the USA Baby two in one mattreses. We have the PBK sheets and they work great. They fit much better than the Carter's Knit sheets. The Company Kids sheets don't fit well at all. They will barely stay on the mattress. If you use a mattress cover, you need to take that into account also when looking for sheets.

Thanks Briana. I was thinking about the Company Kids sheets, so I really appreciate the feedback.

Although our baby hasn't yet arrived, we also have a 6" mattress. The crib set that we purchased was from PBK, and after washing all four sheets that we purchased from them, they have no problem fitting the mattress.

We'll see how things work out once there's a wiggly little one on the sheets, but for now, the PBK sheets fit with plenty of overlap.

Here is a link to Good Housekeeping's Safety test of crib sheets:

You can buy the Gerber Basics at BRU for about $8.
