Bumper Pads

I took the bumper pads off because Andrew is moving all around his crib and started pulling them down so he could see if when we came in his room. He looked so cute with his little bald head peaking over the bumper pads. Anyways my problem is he keeps bumping his head on the crib and sticking his feet out. Should I put the bumpers back on and maybe weave them through or will he learn not to bump his head? What have you guys done?

I also had to take out the bumper b/c DD kept wedging her head between it and the mattress. She occassionally bangs her head, but not very hard, and if she sticks a foot out, she's learned how to get it in. I would much rather have a little bump than her suffocate, so I just left it out. I bet Andrew will figure it out pretty quick too.
