we got an old crib set from a friend that is made by nava designs. The bumpers, quilt and skirt say to hand wash and dry cleaning is recommended - is this really necessary. How do you wash your crib sets?

I washed my bumper on the delicate cycle in cold water, and rinsed it twice (just in case of skin problems). Then, I line dried it. I didn't have any problems. If it says dry clean only, you can usually wash it the same way I did. I don't understand why in the world they would make a baby product that is dry clean only. *shrug*

What kind of material is it made out of? Just curious..... maybe that would give me some insight to help you.

I have a laura ashley set that I think said the same thing. honestly after several dozen spit up and throw up episodes I have no hesitation about throwing it in the washer. Warm versus cold will depend on color and fabric delicacy but I agree on the extra rinse cycle. I put mine in the dryer on low to dry.
